We were set to celebrate 20 years since the first time Aunt Sandy made Green Cream. Banners, signs and post card invitations were ordered. Plans for live music and food were in order. We thought August 4th would be a grand celebration of the legacy Aunt Sandy left us. But those plans came crashing down when we received the phone call on Wednesday, June 27th that my father had suffered an apparent massive stroke and was hospitalized in Illinois. He was a truck driver and was on his way to Iowa.
Our family drove out that day to spend the next week and a half by his bedside. We experienced miracles throughout that very dark time. Not the miraculous healing we were praying for, but miracles we'll cherish for the rest of our lives none the less. We witnessed him leave this earth and cross over into the next life. We take comfort in knowing we'll see him again one sweet day.
He would want us to continue on and press forward. He was proud of our business and told people about Green Cream wherever he went. But celebrating 20 years on the day he would have turned 68 will not be happening. Yes August 4th would have been my dad's birthday. How tragically ironic. I had told him several weeks ago that he was going to have to celebrate his birthday at Amazing Creams & Lotions, but he will celebrate in heaven with Jesus instead.
Our family appreciates your prayers and thoughts during this time of sadness.
